Objectives
This program enables students
to:
- build and maintain a positive self-image and
interact effectively with others;
- discover unique personal skills and talents to
consider when choosing life/work roles;
- relate educational achievement and extracurricular
interests to future life/work opportunities;
- effectively locate, interpret, evaluate and use
career and labour market information, resources and services;
- engage in a range of teamwork, problem-solving,
decision-making and communication scenarios;
- explore a range of transition gateways that lead
from secondary school to diverse work, learning and community roles;
- explore the issue of balance between work and other
life roles;
- learn to view change as an opportunity for growth
and learning, and respond positively to uncertainty and chance events;
- practise job search and work creation skills, as
well as personal marketing, interviewing and time management;
- experiment with choices regarding school and other
aspects of their life and identify optional routes to the kinds of futures they
want;
- begin development of a personal transition plan and
initiate a personal lifelong career building process.
